Stick those Stickers!

One simple way to "kawaii-ify" your furniture is to attack it with cute little stickers! I did this to my old, boring brown desk and let me tell you; it's so much better for it! Sparkly fish and flowers, Minnie Mouses, Little Miss', Hello Kitty's and goodness knows what other characters have adorned my desk, jazzed it up and simply made it so much more me!

To do this to a piece of furniture follow these steps:
1) If you think you need permission to decorate your furniture in this way then ASK whoever you need permission from.
2) Clean that surface! The stickers will stick better and stay on longer if they're stuck to a clean, dry surface so get scrubbing!
3) Start sticking! You can stick the sticker wherever you wish but I recommend leaving a small gap between stickers and not layering them up; you want to avoid creating something that looks like it's been done randomly by a four-year-old whose been let loose with stickers! (HINT: Don't use 3D sponge stickers on a flat surface).
4) This sounds daft but make sure you stick the stickers on well so they don't peel off easily. Because I put these on the part of my desk which I lean on I covered the stickers with a layer of sticky back plastic but if you're sticker-ing the side of your wardrobe or somewhere similar then this is clearly not necessary!

If you've got no stickers then here's some of my favourite, affordable favourites:

And there you go :') one kawaii-ified piece of furniture!
Please comment below and let me know/post pictures of what you sticked with those stickers!

Too Cute Phone Cases

Do you have a phone? iPod? I bet you have. And do you have a protective case for it? Yes? No? I don't know the answer to that one. But I know that, for both my phone and iPod, I have a case, both of which are really quite cute, and both of which were really quite cheap. Cute and cheap. Perfect.
You're lucky today (well I think you are) because I thought I'd share with you possibly the cutest protective cases in exsistance.

For my old HTC I had a "Rainbow Elephant" one which looked like this...

And I have other cute ones for my phone and iPod :-) .
Where did I get these from? A company called Head Case Designs on Amazon

I kind of just got stuck looking through the designs but here are a few personal favourites:

Quickest (and cheapest) way to get Kawaii Nails

Primark. I'm sure that at least 99% of you reading this have heard of it. Some of you may think of words such as "cheap"and "trashy" whilst others may think "good value" and "fashionable". Whatever your opinion of Primark is there is one thing that, in my opinion, Primark is good for. And that is fake nails.

Polka-dot, butterfly, bows, flowers, plain and simple french manicure. Primark has them all. A pack of 24 costs just £1 and comes with a tube of glue. "£1?" you may ask. But, for just £1 these nails are actually quite good and don't tend to break. The only downside is the glue which is pretty much useless. You don't get enough to stick on 24 nails, it's hard to apply and it doesn't last long. The solution to this problem is to buy some more expensive nail glue separately, preferably one which you apply with a brush. I picked up a rather good (and cheap) one the other week from a department store called Boyes. You've probably never heard of this store but look in drugstores such as Boots and I'm sure that you'll find a similar product.

It takes literally 2 minutes to apply these nails, it's much faster than painstakingly painting your nails, painting on a pattern and sticking on 3D bows. All you have to do is select the nails which fit over yours best, roughen up the tops of your own nails by filing (this makes the glues stick better), paint the glue on and stick the nail on. There. Done. That didn't take long now, did it?

Why so Kawaii??

Konnichiwa is, according to Google, Japanese for hello. I think I sort of knew that actually but I thought I'd best Google it first, as I was pretty much guaranteed to spell it wrong.

So; Why so Kawaii? That's the name of this blog and surprise, surprise; it's all about anything and everything kawaii. In case you're wondering "what the heck is this 'kawaii'?" well, according to Wikipedia, it "is the quality of cuteness in the context of Japanese culture". So basically, it's Japanese for cute. Just like punk or goth, kawaii is a subculture; it's similar to a type of goth you may have heard of, pastel goth. Now, in case you're already fully aware of exactly what kawaii is I'm going to stop going on about it and, in case you don't, here's the Wikipedia link-go read!

Why am I creating this blog? Because practically every kawaii-themed website is Japanese or American and I think it's about time kawaii was brought to the UK. This blogs aim is to bring you everything you need to become totally kawaii. Fashion, makeup, hair, nails and generally anything that fits with the word "kawaii" will be here, all in one place, for you to read and take ideas from. So, if you like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Maqaroon, pastel colours, bows and generally anything cute subscribe/keep checking back here!
